From brown to red

One thing you need to know about me is I have addiction to dying my hair. Up until recently I had been bleaching and dying my hair all of  the brightest and craziest colours under the sun, everything from bright red to blue, purple, pink and orange. Three weeks ago I decided to give normality another go and dye my hair a lush shade of brown, L’oreal Paris Preference Caracas.brown hair

This shade of brown was one of my favorites I’ve used so far, but It just felt a little too plain and after seeing the luscious locks of Isla Fisher again recently re-watching  Confessions Of A Shopoholic, I was inspired to try and return my hair to ginger, being a natural redhead myself who lost their gingerness under heaps of box dyes years ago.

So after finding my hairspiration, I chose my desired shade, L’oreal Paris Feria Mango Intense Copper, one of the more natural looking ginger hair dyes on the market.L'oreal Mango Intense Copper

To be able to turn my current shade of dark brown to the light copper I desired I first set about by using colour before. I bought the extra strength formal to be able to get the amount of lift I desired. The Process consisted of mixing part A and B and leaving on my hair for an hour then washing and buffing for at least 10 mins to make sure you wash the hair dye out. Don’t be worried if your hair feels dry and straw like after this process, conditioner will fix this. My hair turend out this colour after the colour before process.

From there I used L’oreal Paris Extreme Platinum Power to give my hair an extra lift in lightness. As my hair has already been bleached before and I didn’t want an extreme lightening effect I only left this on for around 10-15 minuets wrapped in cling film. This product feels a lot like bleach in it’s consistency but it has the added bonus of not giving you a brassy blonde colour like standard bleach would. This is the colour it came out as. IMG_9160

from there I left conditioner on over night and the next day I used the Mango Intense Copper dye. For my length of hair one box was more than enough. I left it on for 30 mins and washed out using the provided colour conditioner. This is the end result I achieved-Mango Intense Copper Mango Intense Copper

Overall if your looking for a natural coppery ginger colour I would  recommend using Intense Mango Copper.
